1429 mfg was born out of a passion and love for art and furniture. Infusing virtually any artwork with solid wood furniture became an obsession for Bridgette Hamilton and Cindy Gross, the founders and owners of 1429 mfg.

The long-time friends spent years planning and plotting their emergence into the furniture industry. With much excitement, they opened their studio in October 2015 in Annapolis, MD. The following spring they introduced their furniture and concept of livable art at High Point Market. It was a dream come true. After receiving much enthusiasm and encouragement from buyers and leaders in the industry, the duo expanded their offering to include coffee tables, side tables and headboards.

All furniture is proudly made in the USA by a select group of artisans. Furniture is sold to the trade and is available through interior designers and a growing list of retailers.

FROM THE 2-DAY WEBSITE:

"2 Day got its start producing small accents and occasional tables from reclaimed lumber. The majority of the lumber used was taken from the old Sears Catalogue Distribution Center in Atlanta. We would go on to purchase and reclaim lumber from six of these facilities scattered across the Southeast. We were also able to develop a line of products using teak reclaimed from discarded railway ties from the South African Railroad. Whenever possible sawmill shorts, off-fall and off-spec materials were used in our processes.

Unfortunately, those lumber stores were exhausted. Not ready to give up on the reclaiming and recycling, we developed our Wine 2 Night! Collection using recently retired wine barrels. Some 800,000 oak barrels are produced annually, many of them ending up in gardens as planters or simply destroyed. We estimate that we have saved approximately 15,000 barrels from this ultimate end. From wine racks to occasional tables, we have developed 50+ items for this collection. Many of the products bear the branding and vineyard handling markings as they were used in wine production.

Color variation, distressing and wood character are key elements in this hand made furniture line. We pride ourselves in enhancing wood’s natural character with hand distressing, sanding and seven different finish options. Circle saw marks are welcome here. Some of our barrel products may even have visible numbers or writing from their time spent in the vineyards. Just like us, our products have a story to tell.

Today, 2 Day Designs employs/contracts with over 75 individuals and carries a 250+ sku product line, a long way from where we started. We are a close-knit group, most of us having been here since the beginning. Thanks to all of our old and new friends for making 2 Day Designs a successful, fun place to spend our workdays. What’s next for 2 Day? Time will only tell. Be certain that we will continue to offer unique products at reasonable price points that work well across any décor.

2ND AVENUE LIGHTING
55 Orinsky Blvd
Yorkville, NY Tel: (800) 843-1602

Email: CustomerService@2ndAve.com
Started in 1979 in Arizona, 2nd Ave Design offers couture services in iron lighting and home accessories. With a large selection of styles, hand finishes, shade options and crystal choices, 2ND Ave can create exactly the look you want. When you buy from 2nd Ave. Design, you can feel confident that you will receive a quality product made to your specifications, delivered in a timely manner. Their handcrafted iron products grace homes and hospitality facilities all over the world.

The history of 2nd Ave starts in a Philadelphia snowstorm when Sheldon Nitzky, an independent lighting sales representative, decided it was the final straw. “That’s it, he said, “We’re moving to Arizona and I’m starting a high-end, lighting showroom and mail order business. Arriving in Arizona, Sheldon discovered that the Wild West mentality was still riding high. No one wanted to sell this newest pioneer any product for his showroom. Angry, frustrated and needing to earn a living for his family, Sheldon said, “If no one’s going to sell me product, I’m going to make it myself!” The very next day he bought $2,500 worth of used sheet metal equipment.

Serendipitously, an out-of work, sheet metal worker came knocking at the door.
“Can you make lanterns?” asked Sheldon.
“I can make anything if I have a pattern.” Said Steve. And so it began.

Within a short time, Steve and Sheldon’s lanterns were seen on the finest homes all over the Wild West. Another fortuitous event happened which changed the company forever. A master blacksmith from Germany arrived looking for employment. He and Sheldon collaborated to design iron products from the most exquisite of classic European designs. A forge was ordered from Germany and the blacksmith began to ply his trade. Now, exquisitely turned chandeliers came from the small factory and the fires of the forge ignited a passion for creating beauty and superior product. Once again, another terrific moment of serendipity happened when a lighting representative visiting Arizona from Dallas invited the small company to show their product in his showroom at the World Trade Center. The overwhelming reception the company received at the show determined the next step forward for 2nd Ave. Design. 2nd Ave. Design launched a national product line in 1987 playing a major role in heightening the growing recognition of American-made, handcrafted products. Here's their product listing: ACCESSORIES, BAKERS RACKS, BATH LIGHTS, BEDS, CEILING MOUNTS, CHANDELIERS, COCKTAIL TABLES, CONSOLE TABLES, DINING TABLES, END TABLES, ETAGERES, LAMPS, LANTERN/FOYER, MIRRORS, PEDESTALS, PENDANTS, POT RACKS, SCONCES, SCREENS, SUITE LIGHTS, TABLES.

FROM THE A & R WEBSITE:
"A & R Designers is a family corporation that designs and produces an excellent selection of fine Colonial furniture. Our furniture is made on selected hardwoods obtained from the Peruvian highlands because of their long wooden fibers. Nicaragua cedar, European Oregon pine, oak, larch, wood with hundreds of years of aging is used because of its density and resistance. Besides, wood is dried in kilns. The finished product can be exposed to heated and air conditioned environments and it will not rack or wrap.

All this process is entirely hand-made. Highly skilled Peruvian craftsmen make the woodcarvings, forge iron hinges and locks; carve and emboss leather furniture; as well as the paint. Antique iron grills of more than 100 years old, copper, stone and iron, are used to offer very original products.

Before the painting process, each piece of furniture is covered, using the ancient technique of gessoing that was introduced to Peru by European craftsmen. This technique creates a delicate and soft surface for painting.

Painters use pigments that provide durability to each design. Traditional techniques dating from 16 the - 18th centuries are combined with modern technologies developed specifically for this purpose at A & R. These techniques give each product a smooth and delicate appearance as well as resistance and durability for daily use.

All of our pieces are available in any of our different colours and elegant finishing, and can be re-proportioned without loss of design integrity. We also make custom orders.

A & R DESIGNERS CORP. gives the final touches to each piece of furniture, and with patience and the finest taste applies the additional ornaments that are our quality and value seal."

For over a hundred years, A. A. Laun has specialized in making quality occasional furniture that can help you create a warm, comfortable feeling for your home.
Their commitment to craftsmanship, style, and good value began in 1892 when German settlers in Wisconsin formed a small company located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay to provide jobs for the young people in the area. Woodworking or furniture making was the natural choice because of the local abundance of good lumber and their cabinet-making heritage.
Today that tradition still lives on. A.A. Laun continues to craft quality all-wood occasional tables, curios, entertainment centers, and accent items from northern red oak, American red cherry, and character-marked maple -- in virtually all styles and finishes. The relaxed feel of country, the classic elegance of traditional, the clean lines of contemporary, or the simplicity of shaker are featured at an affordable price. They make innovative expandable tables that unfold into dining units that can seat eight. They offer a hi-lo cocktail table that looks great in front of your sofa but can also be raised for entertaining. Each of their collections offer tables with ample storage capacity. And, they make some collections with tough wood-grained plastic-laminate tops that suit the needs of active young families. All of their tables have a durable lacquer finish that highlights the beauty of natural wood.

In 1818, Lambert Hitchcock founded an innovative chair company in the northwestern hills of Connecticut, where he produced his beautiful hand stenciled furniture.
In 2006, the famed Hitchcock Chair Company closed its doors. For four years, the name lay dormant. Those who recognized its unique quality and craftsmanship were able to find fully restored Hitchcock furniture through Still River Antiques, owned and operated by Rick Swenson.
In the spring of 2010, Rick and his business partner, Gary Hath, purchased the Hitchcock name, plans, and artwork. Their goal is to continue the Hitchcock legacy, bringing Hitchcock furniture into the 21st century while maintaining the quality and integrity of Lambert Hitchcock's original dream.
