Considering the poor quality of materials used by most mirror companies today to cut costs, it is a pleasure to tell consumers how Dauphine makes their mirrors. They use kiln dried wood which helps prevent warping and splitting. This is in contrast to the plastic or blown-poly used by many companies. (Which by the way, are almost impossible to repair or refinish.) From here I think you would enjoy a quote from their web site, "Using centuries old carving techniques, each frame is hand crafted, requiring up to five weeks to complete. All finishes are applied by hand. Gilt finishes incorporate fine sheets of gold metal leaf imported from Italy.
